OREGANO
Smoky Oregano Sour
Ingredients:
- 2 oz True Story Rye Whiskey
- 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz oregano honey syrup (recipe below)
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- Egg white (optional, for texture)
- Fresh oregano sprig (for garnish)
Oregano Honey Syrup:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup water
- 2–3 sprigs fresh oregano
To make the syrup:
- Combine honey and water in a saucepan over low heat.
- Add oregano sprigs and simmer gently for 5–10 minutes.
- Remove from heat, let steep for 15 minutes, then strain and cool.
To make the cocktail:
- Add whiskey, lemon juice, oregano honey syrup, bitters, and egg white (if using) to a shaker.
- Dry shake (without ice) for 10 seconds to emulsify the egg white.
- Add ice and shake again until well chilled.
- Strain into a coupe or rocks glass.
- Garnish with a small sprig of fresh oregano.
