CHOCOLATE MINT
Chocolate Mint Julep
Ingredients:
- 2 oz True Story Bourbon
- 1/2 oz chocolate mint simple syrup (recipe below)
- Crushed ice
- Fresh chocolate mint leaves (for muddling and garnish)
- Optional: dark chocolate shavings or a splash of crème de cacao for extra indulgence
Instructions:
- Make the chocolate mint syrup:
- Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and a generous handful of chocolate mint leaves in a saucepan.
- Bring to a simmer, stir until sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and let steep for 15–20 minutes.
- Strain and cool.
- Build the cocktail:
- In a julep cup or rocks glass, gently muddle a few chocolate mint leaves with the syrup.
- Fill the glass with crushed ice.
- Pour in the bourbon and stir until the glass is frosty.
- Garnish:
- Add a sprig of chocolate mint and, if desired, a sprinkle of dark chocolate shavings or a drizzle of crème de cacao.
